Learn aviation protocols and
leadership methods
Post 747 meets the 2nd and 4th Monday each month. We cover ground school material or host special aviation speakers.
Occasional field trips bring exposure to a variety of aviation companies, airports and events.
Explorers who complete ground school and pass the FAA private pilot written exam are eligible to apply for scholarship funds to help pay for half the cost of flying lessons – up to $6000.
Ruth Logan founded Aviation Explorers Post 747 in 2002 at Whiteman Airport. Since then, the group has helped nearly 40 young people achieve their private pilot certificates – twice the national average. Most of these students have gone on to receive advanced ratings and/or degrees and several now have professional careers in aviation.
