Ruth Logan founded Aviation Explorers Post 747 in 2002 at Whiteman Airport. Since then, the group has helped nearly 40 young people achieve their private pilot certificates – twice the national average. Most of these students have gone on to receive advanced ratings and/or degrees and several now have professional careers in aviation.

Each Explorer is required to attend meetings at Whiteman Airport as well as participate in community service and fundraising events. Individual instruction costs are the responsibility of each member.

Scholarships Available!
Explorers who complete ground school and pass the FAA private pilot written exam are eligible to apply for scholarship funds to help pay for half the cost of flying lessons – up to $5000.

Meetings
Post 747 meets the 2nd and 4th Monday each month. We cover ground school material or host special aviation speakers.

Field Trips
Occasional field trips bring exposure to a variety of aviation companies, airports and events.
